15th Anniversary of SHG movement

Kakkengad Farmers' Club celebrated the 15th
anniversary of the SHG movement pioneered by it in a befitting manner
in a grand function jointly organised by North Malabar Gramin Bank,
NABARD and the Club at Kakkengad on 16th Aug 2012. Shri Ravi Chatterji,
Executive Director, Syndicate Bank was the guest of honour. Shri
V.K.Saigal, Chairman, NMGB, Shri P. Dinesh, DDM NABARD, Advocate Rajan,
Peravoor Block Panchayat President, senior officers of Syndicate Bank
and NMGB were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. On the
occasion an exhibition of the products of SHGs/JLGs promoted by the Club
was also arranged.
The
SHG movement started by the Club 15 years ago has now spread across the
length and breadth of the Panchayath giving solace to around 5,000
families. Shri Chatterji lauded the yeomen service
rendered by the Club to the farming community of Muzhakunnu Panchayath,
especially through formation of SHGs and JLGs and providing training for
setting up of micro enterprises. On the occasion, Smt Mariamma Teacher
who was the secretary of the Club for a long time was felicitated for
the dedicated service rendered by her. On behalf of the Club, Shri A.M
Mathew received a citation from NMGB for the excellent role played by
the Club. Indeed, one more feather in our cap!
